Manifold Provisions for God’s Creation. TEXT: Psalm 104:24-35
“These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season” (Psalm 104:27).
The creation of God is filled with a stunning variety, revealing the rich creativity, good care and wisdom of our loving God. As we observe our natural surroundings and see the eternal sustenance of all things from the smallest atom to the huge creations of material and living things, we cannot but say “how unsearchable are His judgement and His ways past finding out”. God indeed maintains His creation.
The passage under consideration is an expression of a deep and thoughtful reflection of the Psalmist on the manifold care of God for His creation. He took a glimpse into the character and sovereignty of God over all His creation. God creates, He provides and preserves His entire creation because of His unlimited power over the whole universe. When God opens His hands, His creatures are filled with food, but they are troubled whenever He hides His face. There is no mountain or hill that can resist the power of God. Above all, the creation of God must wait upon Him for all their needs.
It takes faith, patience and trust to wait on God who clearly manifests His kindness and greatness to His creatures. There is need to appreciate God for His creative power and wholesome ability to maintain His creation, particularly man. His mercy, care and compassion over us is the source of our joy and strength. Of course, God created every thing to care for man being the crown of His creative work, yet man must wait upon God, because all creation is dependent on Him for daily life and supply. Provisions for those who wait upon the Lord include salvation, sanctification, answers to prayers, protection, help, renewed strength, Holy Spirit power, etc. The source of your strength and provision depends on your readiness to wait upon the Lord.
As you take a fresh look at the creative power of God especially with regards to His ability to make adequate provision for His own from one generation to another, you will realize that He is sufficient to handle every need and challenge in life. Wait upon the Lord, and trust also in Him, and He will make sufficient provision for your life.
Thought for the day:
They are never ashamed who wait upon the Lord.
